back carry:
You can start to use this carry with babies that can hold their heads up. Lay the podaegi out on a couch or arm chair. Seat your baby in the center of the podaegi. Take up the straps one in each corresponding hand them pull the baby to your back with the straps. Pull the straps under your arms, across your chest, over your shoulders and then down your back under the baby's bottom. Tie a half knot (one strap over the other) under the baby's bottom then bring the straps back in front of your abdomen (they will now be on the opposite side from which they went over your shoulder). Tie in front and done! When first mastering this hold be cautious. Start by wearing it around the house and checking the placement of the straps around the baby's bottom frequently.
This may sound complicated but it really isn't hard to get the hang of.
front carry positions:
These are also popular carry positions. Newborns should be carried in the front carry position facing your chest while older babies can be held facing the world. There is lots on information on the web about how it is accomplished. We have not used this carry enough to instruct on it yet. Soon though...
